Douglas R.Grogan M.D.

Dr. Douglas Grogan received his medical training from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.  He completed a pediatric internship at Children’s Hospital at King’s Daughters and a family practice residency program at Grant Hospital in Columbus, OH.  He has been a Board Certified Family Physician since 1981.  Dr. Grogan is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians

Dr. Grogan established a solo family practice in 1983.  AS the concept of comprehensive healthcare for the entire family grew, he started Bethel Medical Group in 1994.  Since then, Bethel Medical Group has expanded into Bethel Family Medicine and Bethel Women’s Wellness

Dr. Grogan enjoys all aspects of family healthcare including infants, children and adolescents.  Over the past few years, Dr. Grogan has been putting more time and effort into comprehensive women’s wellness including hormone replacement and marriage issues.  Dr. Grogan has done extensive teaching on areas such as hypertension, hormone issues in men and women, depression and sexual dysfunction.  He is currently on the faculty of Tufts Medical School as a clinical instructor in family medicine.  He is also on staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center and South Shore Hospital.

 

Janis Shakr F.N.P

Janis Shakr is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for nurses. Before joining Bethel Family Medicine, she was a labor and delivery nurse for twenty years. Janis joined Bethel in 1999. Her interests include women’s health and diabetic education.

 
Susan Andrea F.N.P
Bethel Family Medicine is proud to welcome back Susan Andrea F.N.P. Susan is a board certified nurse practitoner. She recieved her Master's of science in Nursing from Boston College. Her interests include holistic health, women's health and chronic care issues.
 

Elizabeth Donahue

Elizabeth Donahue is a board-certified family nurse practitioner.  She joined Bethel Family Medicine after completing a Master's of Science in Nursing from the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College.  Elizabeth holds memberships with several professional organizations, including with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for nurses.

Prior to joining Bethel Family Medicine, Elizabeth worked in research at the Massachusetts General Hospital Disparities Solutions Center.  Her research interests include health disparities in vulnerable populations, culturally competent provision of care, interpersonal control tactics on mental health outcomes, and nonverbal communication behaviors in conversations about physical and mental health. 

During her training at BC, she received the Connell School of Nursing's "Contribution to Community Award" for her extensive community service work, including serving as the publicity chair for the Graduate Nurse’s Association.  She also enjoys volunteering as a school nurse for the Nativity Preparatory School in Jamaica Plain and at community health fairs and flu clinics in the greater Boston area.  She plans to travel to Haiti in January of 2011 to provide medical relief in the city of Leogane.
